New Jersey is being hit with a whopper of a storm today through this evening.  Five inches of snow have fallen in Metuchen so far, and we’re looking at another six to 10 inches through this evening as a second storm barrels through this afternoon.  Here are some pictures from our condo, where I’ll be working from home today.  The roads haven’t been plowed at all in our development, and I don’t want to risk getting into an accident!

To everyone who may be reading on this wonderful Thursday morning…

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you (and your families) a very happy Thanksgiving!  David and I are celebrating with his family in Massachusetts, and we’re having a great time.  We drove up with his mom and sister last night–it was a great trip–and we’re going to be meeting up with the rest of the crew soon.  It is going to be a really excellent holiday, and we can’t wait to dig into some delicious turkey, stuffing, and other amazing dishes at his uncle and aunt’s house.  But the best part–being surrounded by such a fun, energetic group!

Here’s to hoping that my side of the family enjoyed their time at the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City–it sounded like a blast, and I can’t wait to see the pictures and video!

Have a very, very happy holiday with your family and loved ones, and don’t eat too much!
-Alex (and David, too!)

PS: If  you haven’t read it already…  Be sure to check out my post on Examiner.com about taking your partner to Thanksgiving for the first time.  It’s not too late to prepare for dinner celebrations later today!  And if you have any suggestions for future celebrations–either Christmas, New Years, or any holiday, send them to me at relationships@alexseise.com!

Since I’ll be doing a considerable amount of freelance writing nowadays, I’ve finally tackled one of my dreams: creating a chic, functional office area!  (For those of you who haven’t visited our condo yet, you’ll know that my main computer is in the living room where it serves as a picture frame and jukebox when company is over.  Not a great place for brainstorming, researching, and writing!)

I didn’t take any “Before” pictures as the basement was pretty horrendous, but I’m really pleased with the outcome.  I worked on several projects there this afternoon and felt really satisfied.  Since my budget was really low (under $100, and as close to $0 as possible), I couldn’t do major renovations.  I think my little bits of TLC worked wonders, though.

What do you think of my new office area?  Any more decoration suggestions?  I’d love to hear from you!
